History
Cherishing the childhood conviction of working at and for the people of
India’s borders, the leading lights of borderless world foundation (bwf),
Adik Kadam and bwf TEAM visited the strife-torn state of Jammu and Kashmir in 1998 for
the first time. They
realized that conflicts at the border areas any where in the world turn out
to be Human Tragedies’. Borders, which are man-made, not only scar the
geography of nations but also the hearts of the people which could
ultimately bring about destruction of the world. This realization made them
to strive for a world without borders (bwf
was registered on March 8, 2002).

People of a nation do not realize that their
border areas act as ‘shock absorbers’ of the country and life for the people
of these areas is far from normal, full of challenges and uncertainty.
Violence, loss of lives, fear and chaos are the order of the day.
Socio-economic stagnancy, civil administrative breakdown and corruption
affect all walks
of life .Civic welfare and development comes to a standstill and that ‘Human
cry for attention’ goes unheeded and unattended. It is a vicious cycle.
The state of Jammu and Kashmir proved to be a
classic example of a ‘Human Tragedy’. Loss of human life, thousands of
children being orphaned, scores of thousands of them forced to drop out of
childhood- the future is hardly visible. The duo decided to start working as
full timers for the interior or the frontier areas of the State with focus
on children as they are the most vulnerable victims of conflicts.
While busy working at the grass-root level in
Kashmir, BWF is fully aware that there’s a pressing need
to extend its services to the Northeast. And as the name itself suggests,
BWF will be extending its services to any country that calls for voluntary
action and realize its dream of a beautiful Borderless World with One Great
Human Family.
