The concept of bwf originated in 1998 when the founders started work at the grass root level in disturbed and sensitive state of Jammu and Kashmir (J & K). Their first hand experiences of their “Human tragedy” know as the state of J & K made them realize that the people of the nation often do not realize that their border areas function as the shock – absorbers of the country and life for the people in these areas is for from normal, full of challenges and uncertainty. Loss of lives, violence, fear and chaos are the order of thee day. Socio economic stagnancy, corruption and civil administrative breakdown affect all walk of life. Scores of thousands children have been orphaned due to violence; a million of them have dropped out of their childhood.

With it is prime focus on geographically remote and disadvantaged border areas ( interiors) bwf has launched it’s rehabilitation projects in the frontier district of Kupwara and very recently in district Budgam and Anantnag, J & K. With plans to extend the same to the other district, bwf also intends to reach out to the North East and to any area beyond India that calls for voluntary action.
